PINAL COUNTY, AZ (AZFamily) — Border agents in southern Arizona say a Valley mom is now behind bars after reportedly smuggling several migrants with three young kids in the car.

According to the U.S. Border Patrol’s Tucson Sector, the woman was recently pulled over in Pinal County along Interstate 10. During the traffic stop, deputies asked to identify nine people who were in the car and learned five of them were illegal immigrants from Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras. Three young children were also inside the vehicle, according to the feds.

CBP officials say the woman, who has not been identified, now faces human smuggling charges while the migrants are now in removal proceedings. The case remains under investigation by the CBP and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, which will formalize charges.

Earlier this week, federal officials announced that several undocumented migrants were taken into custody along I-10 near Bowie during an immigration inspection.
