If you are a snow-lover, it was a very slow start to the year for Arizona’s high country, but one Arizona city has already reported above normal snowfall.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — If you are a snow-lover, it was a very slow start to the year for Arizona’s high country. March has been a different story, with several storms delivering quite a bit of snow. But has it been enough to make up for the deficit in 2025? The answer depends on where we are talking about.

Flagstaff has made up quite a bit of ground in the snow department, but it has not quite caught up to normal since the start of the year.

From Jan 1 through March 16, Flagstaff received 44 inches of snowfall, 6 inches short of the 50 inches that would normally be recorded by this date.

Interestingly, snowfall in Williams, Arizona, has actually been above normal since Jan. 1. The normal snowfall (brown line) through March 16 is 35.7 inches, but the actual snowfall (green line) is 37.3 inches.

But the Williams total is higher than what the chart above shows. Why? The official NWS totals have missing data for the two snow storms last Thursday and Friday. To fill in this gap, I checked a weather station in Williams through the CoCoRaHS volunteer weather spotter network. Last Thursday and Friday, this station recorded a total of 12 inches of snow! Therefore, Williams likely has a bigger snowfall surplus than the chart above indicates.
