Incoming storm impacting several spring training games in Phoenix area
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Several spring training games for Thursday are being played an hour earlier due to the expected upcoming storm.
The Cactus League said if storms get severe enough, games can get canceled or cause a rainout. When it comes to spring training, if a game gets canceled, that’s it; there is no make-up game for a later day.
How they determine to cancel a game due to weather varies. Before a game, the choice is up to the stadium and the home team. If the game starts, the decision is left up to the umpire.
“If they can get five innings that’s a game. If not, then they have to go through the process of refunding all of those tickets. That’s why we encourage fans to go to cactusleague.com. Purchase tickets directly from their facilities because it’s a simpler process if you’re buying direct to get those refunds, that’s really important,” said Bridget Binsbacher, the executive director of the Cactus League.

- Cleveland Guardians–Colorado Rockies game at Salt River Fields is now at 12:10pm.
