Phoenix’s dry streak: Only 15 days left to break no rainfall record
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The current dry streak in Phoenix is getting close to a record that has been in place since the 1970s.
The last time measurable rainfall was recorded at Sky Harbor Airport was Aug. 22, 2024. For official Phoenix records, through Jan. 14, there have been 145 consecutive days without measurable rainfall!
Remarkably, we are now only 15 days away from the record-breaking 160 consecutive days of rainless weather.

This puts the current dry streak in third place for the longest dry stretch on record. In the next couple of days, we have a good chance of taking over the No. 2 spot on the list.
You may have noticed that it did rain a bit in parts of the Valley last week. Sky Harbor did record a “trace” of rainfall during this time. However, a trace amount is rainfall that is too light to measure, so it doesn’t count in the official record books.
The dry streak record is not one that we want to break, but at this point, there does not appear to be much rain in the forecast. However, we know that weather patterns can change quickly, so hopefully we can avoid making it to number one on the list.
