The haves and have-nots of Arizona rainfall this week
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s been a stormy week in Arizona, and we wanted to see just how much rain fell in the Valley.
For the past week, rainfall totals from the Maricopa County Flood Control District paint a picture of haves and have-nots. Around the Phoenix Metro area, seven-day rainfall totals (as of Friday morning) show amounts generally between 0.10″ and 0.25″ of rainfall.
What are some of the highest rainfall amounts I was able to find over the past week? One of the big winners is from the rain gauge at Gillespie Dam, which is in Arlington between Buckeye and Gila Bend. A seven-day rainfall total of 2.28 inches is reported from this location!

Another impressive total comes from Apache Junction (near McDowell Blvd and Meridian Drive) with 1.69 inches of rainfall.

So who missed out on the rain? There are actually quite a few scattered locations across the Valley that received only 0.04 inches of rainfall over the past week. These areas include parts of Tempe, Glendale, and the Biltmore area of Phoenix.

It’s not unusual during the monsoon to see a big range of rainfall totals. A thunderstorm can set up in one neighborhood and deliver heavy downpours, while the next neighborhood over can be left high and dry with no rainfall.
Here are some additional one-day rainfall totals from the storms that rolled through Arizona on Thursday.
