PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Valley saw a lot of monsoon activity Monday, causing dust, power outages, and weather delays for air travel.

Arizona’s Family First Alert meteorologists saw wet weather begin rolling into the greater Phoenix area just after 5 p.m., with heavy rain recorded in the McDowell and Superstition mountains in the East Valley.

Less than an hour later, a dust storm was visible near the City of Surprise, causing delays for drivers headed in and out of Wickenburg, Wickiup, and Kingman. Then, around 6:30 p.m., the FAA issued a ground stop for incoming arrivals at Phoenix Sky Harbor.

By about 10 p.m. approximately 1,565 SRP customers were without power, down from nearly 2,600 during the storm’s peak.

Most of the power was restored by Tuesday morning.
