Baby oil stored above cookies, black matter on tomatoes found at Phoenix-area restaurants

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for February 12, 2025:

• Dishwasher not cleaning properly
• Soup not kept hot enough

• Mint yogurt and blue cheese out of temperature
• Meat, cheese and cornball sauce kept past discard dates

Mission Market - 8818 S Avenida del Yaqui, Guadalupe, AZ 85283

3 violations

• Multiple tomatoes with black organic matter
• Raw bacon stored over raw eggs
• Baby oil stored above cookies

The Blue Hound - 2 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85004

4 violations

• Raw shrimp stacked above cooked lobster
• Dishwasher in bar not cleaning properly
• Butter not kept cold enough on prep line
• Salsa and cooked barbacoa kept past discard dates

4 violations

• Food surfaces not sanitized properly
• Cooked chicken not at proper temperature
• Jalapeño stuffed with crab mix kept past discard date
• No hot water at hand wash sink
