Raw bacon over potatoes, expired brisket among violations at Phoenix area restaurants

Several Valley restaurants were hit with health code violations in this week's Dirty Dining report.

PHOENIX (AZFamily)Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for Dec. 25, 2024:

Baci Italian Bistro - 8830 E Germann Road, Mesa

3 violations

  • Employee handling dirty dishes then clean dishes without washing hands
  • Raw eggs stored above cut peppers
  • Dishwasher not cleaning properly

Redz Urban Table - 2999 N 44th Street, Phoenix

3 violations

  • Infant playpen in kitchen food prep area
  • No soap at hand wash sink
  • Packages of raw chicken on top of packages of raw bacon

Hash Kitchen - 4315 E Indian School Road, Phoenix

3 violations

  • Pans of raw bacon stored above mashed potatoes
  • Dishwasher not cleaning properly
  • Container of butter and oil not kept hot enough

Morning Glory Café - 6106 S 32nd Street, Phoenix

4 violations

  • Employee cracked egg then touched ready-to-eat foods
  • Raw chicken stored above raw beef
  • Cooked sausage not kept hot enough
  • Cooked brisket and sweet potatoes kept past discard dates

El Rancho Market - 1076 N Arizona Avenue, Chandler

5 violations

  • 2 employees scooping raw beef then not washing hands
  • Cheese grater processor with food particles on it
  • Pico de Gallo kept past discard date
  • Bottle of Windex over contact surface
  • Cleaning solution not measured correctly
