Hand sanitizer stored over spices, moldy soda guns found at Phoenix-area eateries

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for Nov. 13, 2024:

Guru Palace of India - 2048 E Baseline Rd, Mesa

3 violations

• Cooked chicken kept past discard date
• Bag of diced cheese not kept cold enough
• Baked potatoes not at proper temperature

Devil’s Advocate Bar and Grill - 955 E University Drive, Tempe

3 violations

• No certified food manager on site
• No paper towels at hand sink
• Orange organic material on soda guns

Dog Haus - 2780 W Chandler Blvd, Chandler

3 violations

• Employee not washing hands correctly
• Employee handling raw beef patties then bread buns without washing hands
• Container of raw eggs above dressing and sauces

Black Bear Diner - 2805 S Alma School Rd, Chandler

3 violations

• Employee grabbed raw eggs then toast
• Raw beef stored above cooked ham
• Organic food debris on slicer

Tampopo Ramen - 3223 S McClintock Dr, Tempe

4 violations

• Several employees washing hands without soap
• Employee handled dirty dishes then didn’t wash hands
• Cooked pork and corn not kept cold enough
• Hand sanitizer stored directly over spices
