Expired tuna salad, moldy beans found at Phoenix-area restaurants

In this week's Dirty Dining report, restaurants were hit with health code violations for not having hot water in the restrooms and not keeping cheese cold.

PHOENIX (AZFamily)Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for Oct. 30, 2024:

The Porch Gilbert - 312 N Gilbert Rd, Gilbert

3 violations

  • Hot water faucet in men’s restroom missing
  • Chemical spray bottles not labeled
  • Sour cream based sauces not kept at proper temperature

Taqueria Obregon - 3401 E McDowell Rd Unit 1, Phoenix

5 violations

  • No certified food manager on duty
  • No paper towels at hand wash sink
  • Onions and chilies not kept hot enough
  • Cheese and raw pork not kept cold enough
  • Cooked menudo not date marked

Eggstasy - 6990 E Shea Blvd, Scottsdale

5 violations

  • Employee handled dirty plates then clean pans without washing hands
  • Raw turkey stored above raw ground pork
  • Cooked sausage and ham out of temperature
  • Tuna salad kept past discard date
  • Cooked barbacoa not cooling properly

Papa Loco’s Fusion Grill - 1100 E Apache Blvd Suite 139, Tempe

5 violations

  • Bottle of bug spray in kitchen
  • White organic material on cooked beans
  • Raw chicken stored above pans of cooked hot dogs
  • Can opener with caked food debris on blade
  • Windex cleaner above onions and potatoes

Boca Taqueria - 1249 N Greenfield Rd #104, Mesa

6 violations

  • Worker not washing hands properly
  • Front hand sink obstructed by laundry baskets
  • Chicken marinade not held at proper temperature
  • Cooked salmon not kept hot enough
  • Red and green salsa not kept cold enough
  • Corn tamales kept past discard date
