Slimy, organic matter on veggies, chicken feet not date marked among violations at Phoenix area restaurants

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for Oct. 9, 2024:

Pho Mai - 4080 W Ray Rd, Chandler

3 violations

• Shrimp, cream cheese and fish balls not kept cold enough
• First Aid Kit above prep table
• Plumbing not installed correctly

Filiberto’s Mexican Food - 3632 W Anthem Way, Anthem

3 violations

• Lemon cookies and fruit from unapproved sources
• Raw eggs stored above vegetables
• Cooked pork and fish not date marked

KFC - 1525 N 43rd Ave, Phoenix

4 violations

• Employee started shift without washing hands
• No paper towels at hand wash sink
• Dishes cleaned without sanitizer
• 100 cooked nuggets not kept hot enough

Varsity Tavern - 501 S Mill Ave, Tempe

4 violations

• Slimy organic matter on cauliflower
• White organic matter on a soda gun
• Ranch dressing not kept cold enough
• Cooked ground beef with no date mark

Stella66 - 1829 E Baseline Rd, Gilbert

5 violations

• No paper towels at hand wash sink
• Hot pot paste with beef fat not labeled
• Raw ducks hanging on racks next to cooked ducks
• Raw chicken and raw beef stored together
• Cooked pig ears and chicken feet not date marked
