Moldy tortillas, medicine above prep table found at Phoenix-area eateries

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for Sept. 4, 2024:

Hello Vietnam - 2922 N Hayden Rd Scottsdale

3 violations

• No food protection manager
• Employee dumping ice into hand wash sink
• Bottle of Dayquil with food and drink items

Filiberto’s Mexican Food - 1755 W Main Street, Mesa

3 violations

• Kitchen employee washing hands without soap
• Employee washing dishes without sanitizer
• Raw eggs out of temperature

American Legion - 2240 W Chandler Blvd, Chandler

3 violations

• 3 pans of food kept past discard date
• Visible mold on tortillas
• No soap at hand wash sink

Claypot Kitchen - 111 S Dobson Rd, Mesa

3 violations

• Raw chicken stored over rice
• Dishwasher not cleaning properly
• Raw chicken and beef not kept at proper temperature

Rice Garden - 8035 E Indian School Rd, Scottsdale

4 violations

• Employee handling raw chicken then not washing hands
• Chow mein and fried rice not at proper temperature
• Raw beef not kept cold enough
• Bottle of prescription medication above a prep table
