Moldy hash browns and soda guns among violations at Phoenix-area eateries

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for August 14, 2024:

Sage & Barrel Craft Eatery - 7215 S Power Rd #107, Queen Creek

• Raw beef above bag of carrots
• Soda gun and holster with organic growth build up
• Brisket and pork not cooling properly

3 violations

• Employee beverages on prep counters
• Employee handled raw fish then food without washing hands
• Raw fish stored above produce in cooler

Eggstasy - 5021 S Power Rd #106, Mesa

4 violations

• Dish cart blocking hand wash sink
• Raw ground beef stored above steaks
• Black organic growth on soda gun
• Pan of chorizo out of temperature

Mesquite Fresh Street Mex - 7345 E Shoeman Ln, Scottsdale

4 violations

• Vacuum sealed bag of cabbage extremely bloated
• Boxes of raw chicken above box of raw beef
• Containers of pico de gallo with no date marks
• Shredded cabbage on ice out of temperature

Solterra Senior Living - 350 S Alma School Rd, Chandler

5 violations

• Employee on cookline adjusted face mask then handled food
• Feta cheese and hash browns with mold
• Raw bacon stored over cooked chicken
• Cut lettuce not kept cold enough
• Hard boiled eggs and cottage cheese not date marked
