Raw fish above wing sauce, old salad dressing found at Phoenix-area restaurants
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for May 22, 2024:
Zipps Sports Grill — 1515 E. Bethany Home Road, Phoenix

- Two pieces of raw fish stored above wing sauce in cooler
- Dishwasher had no chlorine in machine
- No hand towels in prep area
Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant — 7361 E. Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd., Scottsdale

- Food worker cutting lettuce with bare hands
- Wrong temperature for dishwasher
- Soups and sauces not cooled properly
White Chocolate Grill — 7000 E. Mayo Blvd., Phoenix

- A piece of raw meat stored inside of other cooked meat
- Chicken held at wrong temperature
- Cooked crabs and veggie burger held at wrong temperature
Las Sendas Golf Club — 7555 E. Eagle Crest Drive, Mesa
4 violations
- Bartender seen grabbing lime with bare hands
- Enchilada sauce, pulled pork and cheese out of proper temperature
- Lettuce, tomato other veggies left in open tops
- Food, salad dressings not thrown away before expiration date
Beast of Bourbon Bar and Grill — 2235 S. Power Street, Mesa
4 violations
- Cheese stored on table with food set to be thrown away
- Deli slicer had food debris on surface
- Lettuce, tomatoes, fish, beef held at wrong holding temperature
- Beans, pork held past discard date
