Worker not washing hands after handling raw beef among violations at Phoenix-area restaurants

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest number of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for May 15, 2024:

Aloha Tea and Coffee - 6766 W Glendale Ave, Glendale

3 violations

• Squid and chicken jerky did not have proper labeling
• Bao buns not kept at proper temperature
• 5-gallon paint buckets used to store green and black tea

SugarJam the Southern Kitchen - 15111 Hayden Road, Scottsdale

3 violations

• The employee failed to wash their hands after disposing of one pair of gloves and putting on the new pair
• Wine bottle stored in consumer ice
• Dishwasher not cleaning properly

Mr. Cook’s Chinese Kitchen - 3208 E Cactus Road, Phoenix

4 violations

• Grocery bags used to store raw meats/vegetables
• Dishes/cookware not cleaned properly
• No paper towels at hand wash sink
• Employee washing hands without soap and drying hands on clothes

Golden Corral - 5679 W Northern Ave, Glendale

5 violations

• Employee handling dirty dishes then clean dishes
• BBQ chicken and fried fish not hot enough on buffet line
• Sour cream not kept cold enough
• No time stamp on cooked pizza
• Sink not draining properly

Chan’s Noodle House - 1043 E Lemon Street, Tempe

6 violations

• Employee handling raw beef then cooked beef without washing hands
• Employee picking up green onion with bare hands
• Buckets blocking hand wash sink
• Raw pork stored above cooked shrimp
• Food debris on slicer
• Cooked beef not kept at proper temperature
