Sun City driver wants Circle K to pay $3,000 for vehicle damage
Parking stump support beam ripped off her front bumper
SUN CITY, AZ (AZFamily) — Jena Gable drives her 2022 Dodge Challenger pretty much every day.
“I love her, I love her,” Jena jokingly said about her vehicle she’s named “Randi.”
“She’s been fun. I get lots of compliments,” she added. But last month, Jena says she and some friends drove Randi to a Circle K in Peoria and parked right in front of the store.
On Your Side’s Gary Harper asked, “When you’re pulling in the parking spot, are you doing it like you normally do or anything different when parking?” Jena replied, “Nope. Just pulled right up to the curb like I always do.”
However, the unexpected happened when Jena left the store and tried to back up. “I just start hearing peeling away. And we were like ‘What the heck was that?’” she said.
That peeling away was Jena’s front bumper. One of the metal rebars, which secures the parking stump, was protruding and snagged Jena’s bumper as she backed out.
Harper asked, “You really hated to see Randi in this way?” Jena replied, “Oh, I did. She’s my baby.”
Jena says she went back into Circle K to notify their staff, who took their own pictures of the damaged car and promised Jena someone would be in touch. She managed to piece the bumper back together the best she could, but the damage still exists, including a missing fog light.
A repair estimate indicates there’s around $3,100 in damage. Still, six weeks later, Jena says she hasn’t heard a word from Circle K.
So, she contacted On Your Side. “I just thought that you know what? I’m going to go online and and see if Gary Harper is still doing his thing,” she said.
We got a hold of Circle K, explained Jena’s issue, and forwarded pictures of her damaged car. They’re currently investigating the issue.
In the meantime, On Your Side went back to the same Circle K where we found all the metal rebars were hammered in and flush with the parking stumps.
Jena is glad to hear it because she says another car could be damaged or worse. “If I was walking my kids or my grandkid or somebody across the parking lot or somebody wasn’t paying attention, boy, this could be so much worse than what I’m having to deal with now as far as injury,” she explained.
On Your Side appreciates Circle K look into this issue. When they reach a decision, we’ll let you know in a follow-up news report.
