PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Skatt Attack is heading to the Big Apple this fall.

The New York Giants drafted Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo in the 4th round (105th overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday.

Skattebo became a Sun Devil folk hero during a record-setting senior season in which he helped lead ASU—picked to finish last in the preseason Big 12 poll—to a Big 12 championship and a berth in the College Football Playoff.

He set program records with 1,711 rushing yards, 21 rushing touchdowns, 24 total touchdowns, and 2,316 yards from scrimmage. Along the way, he earned All-Big 12 and All-America honors, and was named the MVP of the Big 12 Championship game and the Offensive MVP of the Peach Bowl despite the Sun Devils losing to Texas in double overtime. Skattebo also finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting.

Skattebo arrived in Tempe in 2023 after transferring from Sacramento State at the FCS level. He earned the starting job for ASU during Kenny Dillingham’s first season as head coach, and during a tough and injury-plagued 3-9 season, Skattebo’s physicality and versatility stood out. He impressed with his running, receiving, punting, and even passing ability. Following that season, Dillingham had several blunt conversations with Skattebo, challenging him on several fronts to make changes in order to become a NFL Draft prospect. Skattebo took those to heart and authored one of the greatest seasons ever by a Sun Devil.

Skattebo’s hard-nosed running style became his trademark, with scores of defenders left in his wake during big runs. Heading into the draft process, the primary questions surrounding the 5-foot-9, 219-pounder was with his top-end speed. During a private workout for NFL scouts on ASU’s campus, he reportedly ran a 40-yard dash time in the 4.6-second range. Those questions, and a loaded running back draft class, likely contributed to Skattebo being selected on Saturday. He did, however, post a 39.5-inch vertical jump at the combine, tied for the second-best height among running backs.

Now with the Giants, he’ll have another chance to prove the doubters wrong on the sport’s biggest stage. New York’s running back room is lead by Tyrone Tracy, a second-year player who led the Giants with 839 yards last year, and veteran Devin Singletary.

Skattebo becomes the 255th Sun Devil drafted into the NFL.
