Sun Devil Football excited to kick start 2025 season with annual fan fest
TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — As former ASU running back Cam Skattebo awaits his pick in the NFL Draft, Sun Devil Athletics is excited to kick start the 2025 season with its annual Sun Devil Football Fan Fest on Friday night.
Senior Associate Athletic Director Michael Meitin said the program is entering an exciting time after a historic season. He says the team has not had this much exposure since the 1997 Rose Bowl.
“Cam is probably one of the most well-known players outside of the standard top 10 draft picks that are coming in,” Meitin said. “I mean, we’re sitting here as Big 12 champions. We were undefeated at home last year, we’re going to be preseason top 20, top 15. To be at the Peach Bowl with all of that national exposure, the whole country is looking at us now.”
Meitin said players like Skattebo and head coach Kenny Dillingham helped turn the team around. However, he says all Big 12 players, like wide receiver Jordyn Tyson and quarterback Sam Leavitt, were also part of last year’s magic. The department is excited to have them back for more this season.

“An impact not just to our athletic department, but our whole university, like we see ourselves as the front door of the university. When you have people like Cam Skattebo get national attention, when you got players like Sam Leavitt, who’s potentially going to be a Heisman contender coming back, there’s more eyes on our athletic department but on ASU as a whole,” he explained.
Meitin said having momentum is everything if the team wants to win more titles this season. Now, it’s important for fans to come out to fan fest to continue that drive.
Arizona’s Family caught up with Cam Skattebo before the draft, and he said the Valley’s support meant everything to him during his historic college career.
“I’m going to end up in Arizona at some point in my life. I love it here and I’ll always be an Arizona guy,” Skattebo said.
Sun Devil Football Fan Fest is on Friday at 5 p.m. at Mountain America Stadium.
On top of watching the team’s last spring practice for free, fans can enjoy:
