Thousands attend final night of March Madness Music Festival in downtown Phoenix
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The March Madness Musical Festival filled up Hance Park in downtown Phoenix on Sunday night.
”I was never good at estimating at math. A lot. That’s my final answer. A lot. There’s a lot of people here. Less than Disneyland but more than the public pool, said Stephanie Thoen from Surprise.
The gates for the free concert opened at 2:30 p.m. Leon Bridges opened the show, with Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats playing at 4:30 p.m. The Black Keys took the stage at 6:30 p.m., and the headliners, Mumford and Sons, went on at 8:30 p.m.
”Honestly, it’s a great venue. I’ve been to different ones around the country, and this is one of my favorite venues,” said Susan Kron.
Kron flew in from Rochester, New York, for the Final Four NCAA Tournament and enjoyed the desert’s warm welcome. “I left (when it was) snowing, and it’s beautiful here. Not too hot. Perfect day,” said Kron.
A couple from Atlanta, Georgia, Sammy Gascho and Josh Cotter, agreed.
The festival offered different food and drink vendors, as well as a free Ferris wheel ride. “I love it. It’s like the perfect weather, and I’m not a big basketball fan but I love music, so I’m here for it,” said Thoen.
Sunday night was the final night of the three-day music festival. It ended at 10 p.m.
“This is my first time coming to Arizona. I just love it. I’d love to come back soon,” said Gascho.
