Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale ready to cash in on Final Four
GLENDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — The Final Four will bring thousands of college basketball fans to the Valley in early April.
The two semifinal and championship games will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on the weekend of April 5. The winner will be crowned the NCAA champions.
It is the latest big sports event to be held in the Valley. The Super Bowl was held in Glendale last year.
Westgate Entertainment District bars and restaurants say these events bring in big money.
“We’re such a sports-infused center as well. All of these bars are family-friendly and sports-friendly,” Westgate marketing manager Alex McNeil said. “This is such a diamond in the rough in the West Valley so having such mega events helps put us on the map even more. Kind of makes us the talk of the town.”
Wicked Wolf opened a few weeks ago in the old McFadden’s location.
They had a party for St. Patrick’s Day last weekend. Now, they’re getting ready for the big event in a few weeks.
“We have some specials that are coming up for the Final Four,” Wicked Wolf bartender Isabel Hertado said. “That’s why I’m still here. I’ve been here for 11 years. That’s what I live for.”
Hertado has worked at Westgate for several years. She says the big events are fun since so many fans are partying. She says it’s also a great way to make a lot of money.
“Bring in extra bartenders because we know how crazy busy its going to be. We are going to be super stoked about that,” Hertado said.
Hertado says they can make two or three weekends’ worth of money in just one shift during an event like the Super Bowl or Final Four.
The more than 30 restaurants and bars at Westgate will be ready to cash in on all those people.
