PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — With a little over a month until the Final Four takes over State Farm Stadium, officials with the Men’s Final Four Host Committee are warning the public that hotels will be hard to come by if you don’t act now.

According to organizers, Phoenix hotels are projected to book 22,658 total rooms throughout the Final Four weekend at an average daily rate of $359.

Kyle Hedstrom is the head of economic impact with the Phoenix Final Four Host Committee. He warns those prices will fluctuate once the teams are decided. “We’re seeing a very similar demand that we saw in 2017,” Hedstrom explained. “We saw about a $16.5 million bump in hotel room revenue on the weekend of final four compared to the same weekend in 2016 which is about a 57% increase.”

If you want to stick close to the Phoenix Convention Center, the rates around downtown Phoenix are between $200 to the upper $800 range, depending on the hotel you choose.

As for the rates near State Farm Stadium, some hotels are already charging upwards of $500 a night, and others are charging in the $600 to $700 range.

While many stay options around the Valley exist, Hedstrom warns rooms will be limited based on peak season and the average length of stay they saw back in 2017.

“We saw that the average stay, while a fan was staying a little bit over four nights on average, media was staying five plus nights,” he explained. “It’s a busy time in the Valley, we are just coming off of spring training, and it’s a beautiful time of year to be here. That could also have an influence on pricing and if you get ahead of it know it also allows you to start looking at the events and where you want to be and what you want to be doing.”

Although the teams aren’t set yet, if you know you want to come to downtown Phoenix or Glendale for the Final Four, the sooner you start planning, the better.

Hedstrom said The Sheraton Grand Phoenix on 340 N. 3rd Street will be one of the host hotels for the Final Four teams, and it’s already booked solid for the tournament weekend.
