SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Police have identified the WM Phoenix Open attendee who was arrested after jumping into a Scottsdale canal last week.

Christian Maese, 27, was arrested on multiple charges, including resisting arrest, trespass and aggravated assault.

On Feb. 4, Scottsdale police responded to a call of a man who had jumped into a canal near Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Greenway Hayden Loop.

Five officers went to the scene to pull the man from the canal.

During the rescue, two officers were hurt with minor injuries. One of them needed to be taken to the hospital. Police soon learned that Maese was attending the WM Phoenix Open.

Maese was arrested and then taken to the hospital for evaluation.

This case was turned down for no reasonable likelihood of conviction and referred to the Scottsdale Prosecutor’s Office. The evidence submitted did not meet the requirements necessary to pursue felony charges.
