WM Phoenix Open attendee jumps into Scottsdale canal, rescued by officers

A WM Phoenix Open attendee and a Scottsdale officer are in the hospital after officers saved him when he jumped into a canal on Tuesday night.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Officers helped save a WM Phoenix Open attendee who jumped into a Scottsdale canal on Tuesday and the rescue sent one officer and the suspect to the hospital.

It happened in the area of Frank Lloyd Wright and Greenway Hayden Loop.

Five police officers arrived at the scene after the man went into the water.

They saved the man from the canal but during the rescue, they suffered minor injuries.

The man was arrested but taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The hospitalized officer will be OK.

The suspect is facing charges of resisting arrest, trespassing and aggravated assault.

His name has not been released.
