PHOENIX (AZFamily) — If you plan on attending the WM Phoenix Open this week, prepare for multiple road closures.

Multiple roads will be affected throughout the entire tournament:

  • Greenway-Hayden Loop will be closed from Bell Road to Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard.
  • Bell Road will be closed between 82nd Street and Hayden Road.
  • Traffic will be heavily restricted between Princess Drive and Bell Road.

Scottsdale Police Sgt. Aaron Bolin said the Greenway-Hayden Loop closure is new for the Open, so it’s important to plan your rides accordingly.

“What we really tried to do this year with planning with traffic management, event management, is really to make the experience better, not necessarily bigger, and one of those changes is adding that third entrance to let fans into the course, that’s off of Greenway-Hayden Loop,” he said.

Sgt. Bolin said tournament officials and public safety agencies closed off the Greenway-Hayden Loop to allow crews to build WM Phoenix Open’s third entrance on Hayden Road.

Knowing how much work was put into this effort, Sgt. Bolin is asking fans to be respectful on the grounds to help with traffic this week.

“To get hundreds of thousands of people in and out, it does take a lot,” he said. “There’s a lot of effort that goes out here to make sure barriers are up, barricades are up, pedestrians are safe, and we want pedestrians and fans of the event to respect those areas.”

Throughout the WM Phoenix Open, it is advised to park at West World and use the free shuttles to get to the open versus using rideshare.
