Big names in Diamondbacks franchise to play in WM Phoenix Open Pro-Am
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — The Arizona Diamondbacks are coming in hot for the WM Phoenix Open Pro-Am in Scottsdale on Wednesday.
D-backs recently added ace Corbin Burnes, starting pitcher Zac Gallen, and manager Torey Lovullo are slated to play in this year’s Pro-Am tournament during the Greatest Show on Grass.
“The Thunderbirds are so grateful for our close relationship with the Arizona Diamondbacks, and our fans are always so excited to come out and cheer them on. This year, we’re thrilled to have Zac, Corbin and Torey join the pro-am lineup,” Tournament Chairman Matt Mooney said. “Zac and Torey have played before so they have an idea what to expect, but we’re looking forward to watching Corbin handle the 16th hole for the first time.”
Burnes is a two-time MLB All-Star who is sure to bring his skills to the course. He is a new addition to the Diamondbacks after being acquired during free agency ahead of this year’s season.
Over his career, Burnes compiled an impressive 3.21 ERA with over 1,000 strikeouts. This is his first time playing in the Annexus Pro-Am.
Gallen, a 2023 MLB All-Star and a key player on the D-Backs, will make his third appearance in the tournament. He has a career ERA of 3.17, surpassing 800 strikeouts in just five seasons.
Longtime Diamondbacks manager Lovullo has overseen multiple competitive seasons, including a playoff berth in his first year. In 2023, he helped guide the team to a World Series appearance.
Before becoming a manager, Lovullo played eight seasons in the MLB. This year, he is making his second appearance in the Pro-Am.
The three Diamondbacks will join several other celebrities to play in the Pro-Am, including Arizona Cardinals’ legend Larry Fitzgerald, Women’s World Cup winner Carli Lloyd, and 2016 World Series champion Kyle Schwarber
The 2025 WM Phoenix Open starts on Monday. The Annexus Pro-Am is on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
