SCOTTSDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — Behind all the glitz and glamour of the WM Phoenix Open, many are stepping up to make a difference behind the scenes. Last year, The Thunderbirds and WM Phoenix Open raised a record $14.5 million for Arizona charities. “Wigged Out” was among many charities now making a difference in customers’ lives.

Emily Hendricks and Cristy Clements are two of the many customers of Wigged Out. Hendricks battled thyroid cancer, while Clements is in remission after beating uterine cancer. Sadly, 69-year-old Jonie Sprouse received a different diagnosis than the other women. “Right now, I found out my cancer is, it’s terminal. And they just found two more lymph nodes and it’s in my chest,” Sprouse said.

While the medical journeys of the three brave ladies have been different, they’ve had to endure the same effects of hair loss from treatments. That part of their journey led them to Classy Sisters Wigs in Phoenix while they all looked for ways to feel like themselves again.

Wigged Out serves over 500 people yearly, and they’re grateful to have Thunderbirds Charities to support their mission.
