Going to the Cardinals game in Glendale Monday night? Here’s what to expect
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — If you’ll be in the West Valley Monday night when the Arizona Cardinals take on the Los Angeles Chargers, here’s what to expect regarding weather and traffic.
As expected, the Cards' first Monday Night Football game of the season will bring added traffic to the West Valley and Glendale police say it‘s a good idea to lock down your travel plans in advance. Even if you’re not going to the game, keep that in mind if you live or work near State Farm Stadium.
“It’s going to be really busy,” Sgt. Bryan Hoskin said. “You want to make sure you plan in advance.”
Sgt. Hoskin says the Loop 101 will be congested in both directions all the way back toward McDowell, with game time close to rush hour traffic.
Planning to tailgate? Arrive early to beat the traffic. The stadium’s car parks will open at 2 p.m., four hours before kickoff.
But what about the weather?
It will be a bit warmer on Monday compared to this past weekend. That being said, tailgaters for the Cardinals game will enjoy a nice afternoon and evening!
At State Farm Stadium, expect mid to upper 80s during the mid-afternoon. That’s fairly close to normal for this time of year.
While the heat will not be unbearable, having some shade nearby might not be a bad thing if you plan to spend most of the afternoon outside.
Temperatures will fall to the low 80s around kickoff at 6 p.m. and then to the low 70s by the time the game is over.
It should be a very comfortable walk back to the car after what’s hopefully a Cardinals victory against L.A.!
