‘If This Is It’: Phoenix Mercury hint at Diana Taurasi’s final games
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Phoenix Mercury and WNBA fans alike may have just a few more chances to see legendary guard Diana Taurasi on the court.
The Mercury’s social media posted a possible hint at this season being Taurasi’s last, sharing a tribute video with the caption, “If This Is It.” The video features memorable moments from across Taurasi’s 20-year career.
The Mercury said fans “have two more opportunities to see the Greatest of All-Time at home,” possibly alluding to 42-year-old Taurasi hanging up the sneakers after this year.
It’s yet to be seen if this is simply a ticket promotion or if the WNBA All-Time leading scorer is set to announce her retirement at the conclusion of the season.
The 11-time All Star remains a key player for the Mercury, averaging 15.1 points, 4 rebounds and 3.3 assists on the year.
If it is Taurasi’s last run, she has two games left at Footprint Center: September 13 vs. the Connecticut Sun and September 19 vs. the Seattle Storm. The games will be streamed on Arizona’s Family Sports.
The Mercury currently sit at 7th place in the WNBA standings and have clinched a playoff spot.
