PHOENIX (AZFamily) — With the Footprint Center selling out the big game on Saturday night, the Phoenix Police Department says it’s prepared to keep fans safe during WNBA All-Star Weekend.

It’s yet another major sporting event for the department after the Final Four, World Series and Super Bowl festivities in recent years. All went on without a hitch, and a Phoenix police spokesperson says the department is preparing for the same type of success.

They credit the partnerships with local, state and federal law enforcement.

“We are built for these events; our partnerships are the key to it. We have our Homeland Defense Bureau. We have relationships with state, local that allow us to put on these types of events,” said Sgt. Rob Scherer. “This type of event, we are really excited for it. We get to show off what the city of Phoenix is, and what we can show off with these types of events.”
