Phoenix Rising FC gearing up for home opener following championship season
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — Soccer season is nearly upon us in the Valley! Phoenix Rising FC’s home opener is just weeks away, and the team is busy preparing to go on another possible championship run!
The Rising’s home opener kicks off on March 9 against Birmingham Legion FC. The team is coming off a winning season after taking home the USL Championship trophy. They faced off against Charleston Battery, and the game was forced into a penalty shootout. In dramatic fashion, the Rising took down Charleston 3-2 in the shootout — bringing home their first USL Championship title in club history.
Arizona’s Family stopped by the team’s stadium on Friday to check out the championship trophy and chat with assistant coach Darnell King.
