SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — A Valley teacher is being recognized for helping to shape the lives of preschoolers for over two decades.

Whether it’s in the classroom or in the school’s community garden and greenhouse, Ms. Lynn always shows up and shows out. Every single day, she works before and after school for her students’ success, and she really, truly cares.

Ms. Lynn has been working with preschoolers at Navajo Elementary in Scottsdale for nearly two decades. The children are just at the beginning of their education journeys.

She’s involved in the school’s Panda Program, which provides early intervention services for kids ages 3 to 5 with special needs.

Ashley said both of her daughters have now been taught by Ms. Lynn and says she deserves some big-time recognition.

“I think a lot of times, early education is a thankless job,” Ashley said. “They work so hard every day. Little kids don’t know how to say thank you really at this age yet, and they don’t even understand really fully the impact that you’re making on them. So I wanted to make sure she understands that her and her team really have changed our lives.”

That’s why Arizona’s Family surprised Ms. Lynn at her classroom with a Silver Apple Award and a $1,000 check, courtesy of Desert Financial Credit Union.

“It’s very humbling, and it’s it’s an honor, so thank you. Thank you very much,” Ms. Lynn said. “I’ve been doing this a long time. Love teaching. Love this age group, and I’ve always tried to reinvent myself, and so this is inspiring, so thank you.”

She doesn’t do it for the money or the Silver Apple. She does it for the smiling faces.

“These kids here are our future,” she said.
