PHOENIX (AZFamily) — According to the National Institute of Health, nearly 60 million adults live with some form of mental illness in the United States. Now, it’s Something Good when leaders in the Valley community go above and beyond to support mental health awareness.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Valley of the Sun is hosting its 9th Annual Giving Breakfast. Several people and organizations will be honored at the event for their impact on the mental health community.

This year’s breakfast will recognize outstanding contributions from first responders, educators, and community leaders who have gone above and beyond to support mental health awareness and advocacy.

Honorees at the breakfast include:

  • Bishop of the Phoenix Diocese - Bishop John Dolan
  • Phoenix Fire Department – Deputy Chief Dolores Ernst
  • Phoenix Police Department Special Assignments Unit (SWAT Team) - Brent Urbatsch, Mike Paulson, Terry Graber, and Mark Rao
  • Desiderata Alternative Program – Recognized for their commitment to mental health advocacy

Sec. of State Adrian Fontes will also be speaking at the event.

Funds from this event will directly support the expansion of NAMI Valley of the Sun’s free mental health programs, including the launch of new youth programs in 2025.
