GLENDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Bitz-ee Mama’s opened in the heart of downtown Glendale in 1972. The restaurant opens weekdays at 7 a.m. and is a staple for breakfast and lunch in Glendale.

The restaurant has changed hands four times, and now its current owner, Lulu Rodriguez, is celebrating 16 years of operating the Mexican American restaurant. Lulu was a server and general manager at Bitz-ee’s before the opportunity to buy the restaurant came during the 2009 recession.

Lulu calls her purchase “the best decision ever.” Owning a restaurant was always a dream for her, and when she moved from Compton, California, to Glendale, she fell in love with the historic downtown area. She knew she wanted to build a restaurant that she could keep alive for future generations to enjoy.

At Bitz-ee Mama’s, Lulu creates her menu with family recipes and lots of love. It features daily specials, omelets, fish and chips, Monte Cristos, beef chimichangas, bean tostadas, menudo, pozole and so much more.

Lulu says you come in as a guest and leave family, and she loves hearing about how Bitz-ee Mama’s has become a family tradition and destination for so many.
