Hive on 16th offers space for Phoenix area artists to create and sell their work
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Located in the historic Coronado neighborhood in central Phoenix, Tennille Neilsen, a Maine native, created an environment for artists to work and sell their goods directly to customers.
The goal is for artists to leave their kitchen tables, bedrooms and garages and have an affordable space to take their art to the next level. Tennille allows these micro businesses to focus on the fundamentals of starting and growing their art.
Hive on 16th is a one-stop-shop to grab a coffee, choose a plant, drop off your alterations, discuss finally getting those family photos, refill your laundry detergent, transform your heirloom jewelry into something modern, paint a little and shop at their two unique resale/vintage boutiques.
They have one-of-a-kind gifts ranging from hand-made ceramics to screen-printed tee shirts and collaged artbooks. You can have a necklace made, and while you wait, you can participate in a painting class, learn how to make soap, get your leather jacket studded, or even get a tattoo! That’s the beauty of being surrounded by artists! They are proud to have local, well-known muralists grace the property of Hive on 16th, even including the bathroom walls!
Hive on 16th hosts First Fridays monthly with music, community art installations and various visiting artists who can set up for the night at no cost, allowing these micro businesses to make 100% of their proceeds.
Come down to Hive on 16th, Wednesday to Sunday, for your unique experience.
