PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Chula Seafood is more than just a seafood market and restaurant; it’s a family passion brought to life.

Established in the summer of 2015 by the Heflin family, Chula Seafood has quickly become a beloved destination for seafood enthusiasts in Arizona. Chula Seafood is a true family owned and operated company. Husband and wife owners Mandy and Jon Heflin are tackling being new parents and running a business.

Jon grew up in Central Phoenix. Their business partner Hogan Jamison has been friends with Jon since 5th grade. Jon’s family has been in the commercial swordfish industry out of Southern California for 25 years and runs the San Diego division. Mandy is from the Pacific Northwest and said she loves fish and loves Arizona – and wants to bring both together with the access to the ocean that their family has!

The name “Chula” comes from the family’s own fishing vessel, stationed in the rich waters of Point Loma, California. This direct connection to the source allows Chula Seafood to bring the freshest, highest quality fish to the desert, maintaining a commitment to culinary excellence and sustainability.

At Chula Seafood, the family sells fresh fish and seafood by the pound from their fresh fish case. They say their tuna, salmon and scallops are always sushi grade and safe to eat raw. They also sell Alaskan halibut, swordfish, grouper, sea bass, smoked salmon and more.

Chula Seafood offers a wide variety of seafood, from poke bowls to fish tacos, oysters to sashimi, shrimp cocktail to fish and chips – or build your own grilled fish plate. The high-end, counter-style, quick-service restaurant and fish market allow guests to order from an innovative menu or select from the fresh fish case, ensuring that every dish is as fresh and flavorful as possible. They also provide wholesale seafood to some of the finest restaurants in the area, upholding their reputation for quality and reliability.

Chula Seafood’s mission is simple: to purvey the highest quality, fairest-priced, most sustainable seafood while presenting it in ways that both delight and inspire.
