Teen gets day at ballpark, talks about dreams
Matthias, 15, says he loves cooking
PHOENIX (AZFamily)—He walked through the tunnel just like the major leaguers do! Matthias has never been to Chase Field and definitely not like this, walking on the grass just yards away from where stars like Corbin Carrol warmed up. What amazing views at the ballpark, and what a great setting to learn more about this outgoing 15-year-old.
“I’m funny, kind and helpful,” Matthias said. He likes sports, music, video games, comic books, making people laugh and cooking. “I like cooking for people,” he said. “It’s relaxing.”
After a few throws, he took a second to tell Arizona’s Family about making one of his favorite dishes, enchiladas. “You get the corn tortilla, you don’t roll it, just keep it flat,” he said. “You put it in the sauce, get the meat cheese and do that process, if you want you put olives.” Mathias said he has big dreams. “I’m going to be a Christian rapper, NBA player and probably a chef,” he said.
Those are long-term goals, but in the short term, this teen wants to get out of his group home and into a foster home or, better yet, be adopted by a loving family.
He said he would do well in an active family. “Teach them how to play basketball, just go out places,” Matthias said. “I don’t like being stuck in the house.”
