PHOENIX (AZFamily) — In this Finding Forever, where we introduce you to children in foster care looking for loving homes, you will meet Steve.

Steve is non-verbal, but if you ask his caregiver, he is thoughtful, has many interests and has a lot of love to give.

Steve got quite the hands-on experience at Odysea Aquarium, feeding the rays at Stingray Bay.

The team let him get close to these majestic creatures, where he learned about their habitat and diets.

“Steve, he is so sweet,” said Erica Whitehead, Steve’s adoption recruiter.

She said this 8-year-old is curious and always paying attention to things going on around him.

“He can certainly can communicate through his facial expressions, gestures, his body language to let you know how he feels and what he thinks about things,” she said.

Steve likes adventures, exploring and pulling leaves off of trees. We quickly learned he enjoys using his hands when he wanted to explore our camera equipment.

Erica said Steve would do well in a family that is active and able to take him out to explore the world or on similar adventures like the one he had at Odysea.

“He would benefit from a family that has knowledge of medically fragile children,” Whitehead said. “Or at least is willing to receive extra training, to know how to care for him. Steve would do well in a family has siblings or pets. And even with some of Steve’s challenges, people who know and care for him said he has much love to give to any family he joins.”

“Ultimately, Steve needs a family that is going to love him,” Whitehead said. And be attentive to his needs and he still brings a lot of joy to people around him.”
