FLAGSTAFF, AZ (Discover Flagstaff) -- Planning a trip up north? Flagstaff is a fantastic getaway for Arizona’s desert dwellers, but as we head into wildfire season, which is really all year long now, there are some important things you need to Know Before You Go.

  • Pay attention to fire restrictions and Red Flag Warnings.
  • Make sure chains and tow straps are not dragging. Dragging causes sparks that can start a wildfire.
  • Do not park in dry grassy areas. The heat from your vehicle can spark a wildfire.
  • Understate that there is no smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes, in Flagstaff’s public areas.
  • Know how to put out a campfire. Simply pouring water on it isn’t enough.
