Surprise Squad stops by to wow shoppers at central Phoenix Fry’s
Surprise Squad is sponsored by Valley Toyota Dealers
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Although the rate of food inflation is expected to slow as the year goes on, the U.S. Department of Agriculture says consumers can still expect prices in most categories to be on the rise.
It’s why Arizona’s Family’s Simone Cuccurullo and Arizona’s Family Surprise Squad paid a visit to Fry’s Food Stores at 7th Avenue and Camelback Road in central Phoenix to surprise some lucky shoppers with $200 gift cards.
Enthusiastically, Simone approached a woman near the produce department to see how her day was going, before presenting her with a gift card courtesy of Valley Toyota Dealers. After an appreciative high-five and some smiles, Simone moved on to find another Fry’s customer.
She found her just a few aisles away, shopping for some vegetables to make her own juice. Simone surprised her with a gift card and a hug, then was off in search of the next lucky recipient.
That’s when Simone encountered a shopper who had just moved to the Valley. “Can I give you something to make your day, today?” asked Simone, as she presented a gift card to a very stunned shopper. “For real… I can spend it on anything?” the woman asked. “On whatever your heart desires,” said Simone.
As Simone raced on to find the next person, she turned to the camera and said: “I feel like Oprah… you get a gift card, and you get a gift card.”
Heading down the next aisle and a short dash later, Simone met up with a woman who explained that she handles rising food prices by purchasing what she can. “Well, I have something for you.” And that’s when Simone gave her a gift card and a high-five.
Turning the corner, Simone stopped a woman whose hands were full with a few items that she was buying. “Can I do something to help you out?” asked Simone as she gave the last gift card of the morning, to a very surprised and happy shopper.
