What is Founder’s Day?
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was opened by Danny Thomas on Feb. 4, 1962, in Memphis, Tenn. Founder’s Day honors the hard work and dedication that led to the results seen today.
The hospital was the first integrated pediatric research hospital in a then-segregated South, according to St. Jude.
Treatments invented at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened. And they won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.
Adding to their mission, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – so they can focus on helping their child live.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is now working with doctors and institutions worldwide to make sure children all over the world have a chance to survive.
Your donations and ticket reservations help make all that hard work possible.
