PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Two men have been arrested after authorities say they admitted to multiple armed robberies in north Phoenix in recent weeks.

Phoenix police say 22-year-old Osvaldo Campa and 20-year-old Pablo Manuel Escobar Castillo were arrested Tuesday.

Officers say the investigation started around 8:30 p.m. last Tuesday when two men committed a “takedown”-style armed robbery at the Filibertos near 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

Police shared surveillance video with Arizona’s Family showing suspects in the same colored clothing and also wearing face masks pulling out a gun at a drive-thru. In that instance, the man in black can be seen taking cash from one of the registers before placing it into a small shoulder bag or backpack.

About an hour later, police were tipped off about another robbery about eight miles northeast at Taqueria Los Norteños, near Grovers Avenue and Cave Creek Road.

Video from that investigation showed two men with face masks and hoodies, one of whom pulls out what appeared to be a gun near a food truck. At that point, those sitting at the table seem to have their belongings taken, also putting them into a bag.

Detectives quickly linked the two robberies and identified Campa and Castillo, who are also believed to be linked to robberies at two area gas stations, as well as a butcher shop, all of which police say were where they demanded money in recent days.

Castillo is also believed to have stolen a woman’s Apple Watch and purse in November 2022, according to court records. He reportedly admitted to that crime as well, explaining that he sold the woman 10 marijuana vape cartridges but only paid for five, so he “took 5 vapes back from her and broke the Apple Watch,” according to court paperwork.

Castillo was booked into the Maricopa County jail on $150,000 bond. Campa was scheduled to make his initial court appearance Thursday evening.
