PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Doomsday mom Lori Vallow was in court Tuesday morning ahead of her murder conspiracy trial set to begin in just a couple of weeks. The conversation during the hearing was mostly about witnesses and evidence, and Vallow struggling with the reality of serving as her own lawyer.

Vallow appears to have adopted a snarky tone in this trial. She wants more time for her team to review evidence while also requesting her trial to start in two weeks. Vallow claimed her former attorneys won’t give her important video evidence.

“They will not help us. They will not send us anything. They will not email us anything. They will not answer anything that we have asked them to,” Vallow said.

It’s a video prosecutors said they can’t find anywhere.

She shot back in an abrasive tone, asking, “So I should go directly to Gilbert Police Department to get it?”

How did Lori Vallow get to this point?

Vallow and her doomsday prophet husband Chad Daybell were both convicted in Idaho of killing her two kids JJ and Tylee, claiming they were zombies. The pair were also convicted of murdering Chad’s wife Tammy Daybell.

Now, Vallow is facing charges in Arizona in the death of her fourth husband Charles Vallow, who was shot to death in Chandler. She’s also charged with conspiring to kill another family member – Brandon Boudreaux, the ex-husband of Vallow’s niece.

We’re just weeks away from trial and Vallow is now struggling about the reality of representing herself.

“Where I am at the jail, the communication is very difficult for me to get ahold of my investigator, get ahold of my paralegal. I’m 23 hours a day locked down. If I don’t have Wi-Fi, I don’t have a phone, if I don’t have battery, I don’t have a phone,” Vallow said.

The State complained about Vallow’s demand to interview witnesses at the last minute.

“It’s not the State’s responsibility for the defendant to do the defendant’s work and find these people. I have the absolute right to do interviews just as the defendant does,” said prosecutor Treena Kay.

Vallow also asked for evidence for her investigator to review including Charles Vallow’s phone.

The judge said the defense has had the phone data for more than a year.

“You’re the one pressing for your speedy trial so you kind of have to make a decision. We’re set for trial, you wanna go to trial or you wanna have him do that work you want? Because I don’t think both are going to happen,” Judge Justin Beresky said.

Lori Vallow may also testify in this trial, but since she’s representing herself, her advisory counsel will have to ask her questions she writes ahead of time. The judge said she can’t just take the stand and speak her own narrative.

Opening statements are expected on April 7.
