PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Lori Vallow walked into the courtroom smiling on Thursday morning as doctors deemed her fit to stand trial for her role in a Maricopa County murder.

Vallow appeared in court, waiting for doctors to make their assessment as she awaits trial for first-degree murder in the 2019 death of her ex-husband, Charles Vallow, in Chandler and the attempted murder of her ex’s nephew, Brandon Boudreaux.

Two-court appointed doctors deemed Vallow “competent,” and the state had no objections, stating Vallow can move forward with her case in Arizona. The judge scheduled a status conference for Friday at 8:30 a.m., but it’s unclear if Vallow will appear in court then.

The so-called “doomsday mom” was sentenced to life in prison for the deaths of her two children, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old JJ Vallow, in Idaho. The children’s bodies were found on Vallow’s husband, Chad Daybell’s, property in June 2020.

Lori Vallow’s trial is tentatively set to begin on Feb. 24, 2025.

Daybell was sentenced to death for the murders of Tylee, JJ and his wife, Tammy Daybell. Vallow was found guilty of conspiring to kill Tammy.
