GLENDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — At least one person is dead after a fiery crash involving multiple vehicles near Glendale’s Luke Air Force Base on Friday night.

Authorities say just after 9:30 p.m., six vehicles collided on the southbound side of the Loop 303 before the Bethany Home Road exit. Arizona Department of Transportation’s camera showed flames and smoke coming from the scene. Explosions were also seen.

The Department of Public Safety confirmed at least one person was killed in the crash, but it’s unclear how many others were hurt.

Troopers are still working to determine what led up to the collision.

Traffic backup could be seen for miles late Friday night, but the freeway reopened early Saturday morning. Northbound traffic was not affected.
