Phoenix Rising to host MLS’ Houston Dynamo in US Open Cup match
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Phoenix Rising will be welcoming a Major League Soccer team team to the Valley of the Sun next week.
The Phoenix Rising will take the pitch against MLS’ Houston Dynamo in the Round of 32 U.S. Open Cup. The Rising advanced in the tournament after defeating FC Tulsa in penalty kicks earlier this month.
If the Rising defeat the Dynamo, they will move on to the Round of 16 and face the winner of Austin FC/El Paso Locomotive FC.
This will be the second straight season the Rising has advanced to the Round of 32, and the third time facing off against a MLS opponent in the Open Cup. Last year, the team made a run to the Round of 16, but were defeated 2-1 by Seattle Sounders FC.
Kickoff is on Wednesday, May 7 at 7 p.m. Tickets start at just $9, and fans can grab $1 Modelo beers at the game!
The Phoenix Rising FC Stadium is located near 40th and Washington streets in Phoenix.
