Arizona Diamondbacks bring back purple, teal in new City Connect uniforms
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Are you an Arizona Diamondbacks fan who misses the original purple and teal color scheme? Good news! It’s back with the latest City Connect jersey.
The D-backs’ new Nike City Connect 2.0 debuted on Monday featuring the original color scheme that appeared on uniforms from 1998 to 2006, but adding a bold, modern look. Like the City Connect jersey released in 2021, its replacement still features the “Serpientes” logo across the chest, but not much else remains the same.
The main body of the jersey is purple, with teal accents that include the wordmark. Pinstripes have also returned, this time blended with the snakeskin pattern that appeared on uniforms from 2016-19.
The sleeve patch represents the state flag with the addition of the team’s “A” logo in the center. “Arizona Born” appears on the jersey’s collar to point out that the D-backs are the only major sports team established with Arizona in its name.
Another tag on the latest jersey features 1998 surrounded by the outline of Arizona, celebrating the year the team was established and the 48th state. The team cap also gets a refreshed look with the throwback colors.
The City Connect 2.0 uniforms debut this Friday when the D-backs take on the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chase Field and again on Saturday. The team will then wear the new uniforms every Friday home game through the remainder of the season.
The new jerseys and other merchandise sporting the updated look are for sale at the D-backs Team Store at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix and online at retailers including Fanatics.
