Man accused of stabbing roommate to death in north Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is behind bars after allegedly stabbing his roommate to death in north Phoenix on Friday morning.

Phoenix police responded to an “unknown trouble” call at 11:45 a.m. in a neighborhood near 32nd Street and Bell Road.

Officers arrived and found 73-year-old Jack Olsen lying on the floor with multiple stab wounds. Olsen died at the scene.

According to police, a witness told officers that the suspect, 38-year-old Daniel Kohls, was responsible for the stabbing and ran away from the scene.

Officers searched the area and soon found Kohls in a nearby parking lot. He was taken into custody. Detectives interviewed Kohls, and police say he gave statements that linked him to the stabbing. He was booked on murder charges.

An investigation is ongoing.
