PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Phoenix Zoo will be welcoming two new furry, adorable babies in the coming weeks!

Fern and Thistle, two orphaned mountain lion cubs, will call the Phoenix Zoo their “fur-ever” home. The two cubs will be transferred from the Oakland Zoo to Phoenix in the coming weeks and get acclimated to their new home.

The sibling were found by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife in Portola Valley. Sadly, officials believe that the cubs’ mother was struck by a car.

Both cubs have already received their exit exams, where Oakland Zoo vet staff confirm they are healthy and ready for the big move. Fern also received a spay done laparoscopically, where vet specialists use minimally invasive techniques and equipment to make small incisions during surgery.

“It’s always hard to say goodbye to the sweet cubs that we care for, but we’re certain these two will also be in great care in Phoenix,” the Oakland Zoo posted on Facebook.

While it will be a while before the public can see their cute faces, the zoo encourages patrons to stay tuned on the siblings’ journey to the Valley of the Sun.
