On Wednesday, police released photos of a person of interest identified in the investigation. He was described as a bald Hispanic man wearing a grey long-sleeve shirt, black pants, black shoes with white soles. Authorities say he was in the area at the time of the stabbing, but stopped short of calling him a suspect.

Glendale police say 62-year-old Judy Lopez of Phoenix was found stabbed around 9:15 p.m. on Monday near 83rd Avenue and Cardinals Way.

Lopez’s family spoke alongside police. “They are hoping by speaking out, someone who knows something will come forward and help them out,” said Glendale police spokesperson Jose Santiago shortly before the news conference.

“She was killed by someone maliciously,” one family member said, describing Lopez as a kind, giving woman.

Officers at the scene found Lopez with at least one stab wound. She was taken to Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, where she later died.

So far, details about a suspect have not been released. However, several cars traveled through the intersection around the time of the stabbing.

Detectives have pleaded with witnesses to come forward with tips. Anyone with information or who can identify the pictured man should call Glendale Police at 623-930-3000 or call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers, where all tips can remain anonymous.
