PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — A Phoenix man is facing a couple of felony charges after police said he intentionally ran over a motorcyclist with his SUV in Peoria last week.

Court documents say 30-year-old Aaron Douglas Pruett got into a road rage back-and-forth with the motorcycle rider on the westbound Loop 101 near 43rd Avenue on the morning of April 21. The victim reportedly feared for his life so he got off the freeway at Thunderbird Road and headed south of 88th Avenue.

In a neighborhood just north of Sweetwater Avenue, police said Pruett drove across the opposite lanes on 88th Avenue and up onto the sidewalk to run the motorcyclist over. The crash threw the motorcycle and the victim about 20 feet, police said. Pruett apparently got out of his SUV and said something to the victim before driving off, court documents said.

The victim suffered a broken leg and other injuries, investigators said. Pruett was found at his job and arrested three days later.

He was booked into jail on charges of hit and run resulting in serious injuries and aggravated assault.
